Creating A More Advanced Website?

I want to create a pretty advance website. one that people can have a username and enter information about themselves. What would i have to use and what would it take to do this? Basically i want people to be able to post information on something they have so other people can look it up and then contact them. and the member ship is not paid

You can use wordpress. WP has everything you will need to build(design) a simple membership site, if you understand HOW to do it. If you have some money to start with, then You can outsource others(professional) to do it for you at odesk.com
