why would outgoing guy friend text you a lot but won't talk to you in group?

we had history before but now just best friends.he is very outgoing talkative guy,he talks to ALL girls and has lot of female friends but he only talks to me when my and his friends aren't WITH us,through facebook and texts.though he talks outside the class,where our friends can see us talking privately from afar but when friends are with us he keeps talking to me friend he won't even look or talk to me.he never looks at me in eyes while talking.he does tries to impress me and gets nervous a lot (he told me).




people(even strangers) calls me beautiful many times (he too),so i'm not that hideous.is he trying to make me jealous,is he embarrassed of me?or what?

I think what he shows to you diff from he shows to others.
you are special, maybe he likes you but cann't make a decision now.
or else he just take you as a special friend and don't want others know.
