How can you hide your Facebook page from relatives etc.?
A friend wants to join Facebook but doesn't want relatives and other people to know she has joined. She doesn't want to block them...just doesn't want them to know. Any way to do this? I read you have to post your email address. Will it show if they try to find you?

Lots of info missing. Do you mean them to find about the person's account online (like friend suggestions), or when they use the same computer as he is using (like the entire family is using the same pc)?

OK, so I'm thinking this "friend" is you and you are trying to go behind your parents' backs by making a Facebook. Or, if this really IS a friend, SHE is doing that. Regardless, there is no way for anyone to NOT see the account except by blocking the people "she" doesn't want to find it. Blocking is the only way that the account won't show up on any Facebook search. The name and comments will also not show up on any mutual friends' pages, either.

If set to Private, if someone looks up a name, the profile name will pop up with a message that so-and-so only shares information with certain people. There is also a nudge to send a friend request.

If I'm correct and this is someone trying to sneak Facebook, my advice would be not to do it. Parents ALWAYS find out, and when they do, you (of she) will no longer be trusted for anything.
