How to befriend a socially awkward guy?
So I talk to this kid who is super awkward and shy, he doesn't get noticed as easily because he's not one of the popular good looking guys, but he's so sweet, respectful, and kind. I have a pretty big crush on him. I want to get closer to him but because of his nature it's hard to read him and I can't tell if I'm intimidating him or if he likes me too. I don't want to annoy him. I don't want to change him because I like him in all his weirdness, but I wish he would open up more. He told me has zero experience with girls, and I have zero experience with guys and although I'm quiet I'm not nearly as nervous around others as him. How do I let him know I think he's awesome without scaring him off?

Oh man, honestly this guy sounds a lot like how I used to be. The way I used to be was that I was simply too shy to really talk or do anything. But there has to be at least one thing that he likes and likes it enough that it will definitely open him up. Its normal for us to want to be around those we like and want attention and Im sure he does too. He just isnt the kind to go out and look for it. The only way to get me to open up before or even talk for that matter was in group projects or something related to that where I had to. He will no doubt be nervous and even more so if he likes you. Just try to talk to him through social media first to open up some casual conversation and talk a few times a week at school. Most likely you wont be annoying him unless you bring too much attention to him or he just really wants to be left alone. So I guess to answer your question: People like that usually just want to be appreciated and if you somehow show him that, you will probably grow on him. You just have to be patient. Good Luck!Smile
