is this a bad method of viewing people?
i take a look at the larger population view statistics and even when asking individual people questions (like on here) i often take things on a majority rules type thing and while i try not to say "all" i do often say most (men women or racial specific although i havent had any racial specific questions on here)

"most men ____"
"most women ____"

i keep an open mind to individuals however i often take social cues and other hints to what type of person they are and keep them in that category until i have enough information to know which parts of stereotypical information they are either exactly spot on or are rare exceptions in

If the shoe fits wear it. Nobody should think all the time that "all" means everybody. That kind of group thinking is just not me. Im an individual and ill chose what you can add "all" to me with. Not you, you can say all. But ill figure out if it fits me.

Just like when somebody yells "hey you" sometimes I turn around and sometimes don't. Most of the time I don't. I guess unless a person address me its not for me. Simply when a teacher or authority gives a speech and says somebody is stealing infront of a group then i dont' think its me. But if they sat me down personally and said everybody is stealing. I might even jump the gun and think its me. At least I have more of a reason for that. How am i suppose to believe they sat everybody down? Dont' know.

I don't think everything is about me, even if they put all. There are words for that. I used to hate that on facebook that i would type people and somewhere out of the blue somebody will think im talking about them or something. Guilty much?

edit: and people have NOOOOO problem grouping black males in the same category

I like how you keep and open mind.
However, when it comes to social cues, I have to consider more, the source of the people giving them, and how much value I have in regards to respecting their opinions, which is very limited. Otherwise, I just take it upon myself to base the person on how good they treat me.
