On Facebook, what's the difference between a group you join and a page you "like"?

Grizzie, that sounds like an old fart talking.... one old fart to another. I just can't figure out some of things on The Facebooks.
Thank you Jane. One other thing. On the "like" pages, you can post your own stuff, too. What's the difference there?

I think "join" gets you on a list for notifications of meetings, events, etc. "Like" just means you think the page's buns are cute, but that's as far as the relationship goes.

When you join a group you can share images and posts with people who are only in that group. Some groups are private so only people who you invite can see the posts. If you like something, that just means that you are subscribing to that item so that you can receive posts and updates from that item.

joining a group lets you know the posts by other people in that group,that is,u are in contact wit the ones in one or other circles like friends or batchmates...
but a page is entirely different!
it can be seen very obviously from these commands in fb:
if it s a group,there wil be "540 members are in this group"..
if it s a page,"540 people like this page"..
In short,u can be in touch wit pepople in ur group,but it cant happen wit people eho like ur page!
