I've become a youtube partner and ads have been on my videos. How does advertising benefit me?

I don't even know how I became a partner because I haven't got a lot of views and subscribers.

It is weird that you have partnership with little views, but basically you get a tiny percentage of money if someone clicks on the ad. Only a few cents though, and they won't mail you a check till you get to 100 dollars. I've been a partner for a few years and I think I've made about 30 dollars.
