How do you change likes/comments facebook privacy?

i have so many friends on facebook and i like a lot of pages. i had a few friends come up to me at school saying "you said that band is sexy"? how did they know i commented on my favorite band's photo? they told me that it came up in their news feed saying "_______ commented on a photo" or "_____ likes a photo" how can i set this to where none of my friends can see what pages i comment/like? it always appears in my friend's newsfeed. is there any possible way to keep everything so my friends won't see it? without blocking my friends?
