Many people on internet or internet company throttles internet?
Hey yes I have wowway (you know that cable/internet/phone company that provides overpriced internet and brags about how amazing there customer support is even though they seem like "a team of poorly trained monkeys") and yea we pay for 20 Mbps internet. So right now as of exactly 10:30 AM Friday 1/31/2014 (unless my computer lies) my internet speed according to speedtest.wowway.com and speedtest.net is 0.40 Mbps dl and 2 Mbps up. We called them about it being 2 Mbps download and well 0 download (which was fixed by its self when a neighbor ran over there box and took out the internet and cable when wowway replaced it) and when they came over they said "Well you see the reason its so slow is because many people are on at once which makes it slow and about 8 PM is when everyone gets online and its worse on weekends."

So... I really wanna know there excuse for it being 0.40 right now and its not on the weekend and most the people who are on the internet are at work or school.

So what do you think are they just throttling my internet or are they actually telling the truth and there is just 2-5 times the amount of people are on compared to on weekends at about 8PM.
Hey guess what I just searched some things about throttling and if wowway does do it and its currently 10:49 AM and guess what my internet speeds at 14 Mbps according to speedtest.net. I really do feel like this is no a coincidence since when ever I search anything about wow slow internet or go to there webpage enough or speedtest enough it all of the sudden comes up to correct speeds.
Went to youtube after 10:49 and its 11:05 AM and guess what it's back to 0.40 Mbps...

Also if there is any cheapish internet companies around Union City MI please tell me (xfinity doesn't reach here)
Also Rhys C think for a second there. There is school today and people are going to work today I am at hone. Your answer is completely useless I mean really... I am trying to not go to what I do when someone replies to a comment of mine with such a comment...

Long story short:
There was a [very] recent ruling in the US federal court that struck down the FCC from enforcing net neutrality. This means that internet providers can throttle speed for access to certain sites at they wish. That said, I have no clue what the throttling policy of wowway is.

Of course, it is also possible they have some legitimate reasons for the slowdown, like infrastructure being damaged due to various reasons (like extreme weather conditions). In either case, you should probably contact the support group if the issue seems unreasonable, and/or threaten to switch to a different provider.
