Connection to Internet drops on one computer, but others can connect?
The past couple weeks I have had an odd event happen with my home desktop. After it is being used for several hours, suddenly it will not connect to the Internet; none of the browsers will be able to pull up a website. However, the icon in the task bar still says I have Internet access. Also, all my other devices that can connect to the Internet (work computer, smartphone, tablet, etc) have no problem connecting and both the modem and router are working fine. The Windows troubleshooter can't figure out what's wrong, and of course cannot go to the Internet to pull up more help. Any ideas on what I can check on the home desktop to see what is happening?

Sometimes Internet likes to screw up and get weird on computers, it's best if you call your internet provider and ask them to trouble shoot it for you.

I would first run a virus/spyware/malware scan first, just to eliminate the possibility that the machine is infected.

It could also be faulty hardware, bad network card/NIC
