There my not be any universal sources. There are market research services that charge thousands of dollars for some papers. You can find government forecasts for certain commodity products.

Some internet marketers research existing businesses using statistics services like quantcast, alexa or compete.com to get traffic and demographic stats on a particular site's audience.
