Is it possible to block people on twitter?

I just got a twitter and made the mistake of letting my stepmom know, and now she wants to follow me. But i post a lot of stuff on twitter that I don't want ANYONE in my family to see (she doesn't know i'm queer or that i smoke). Can you block specific @usernames from finding you?

Yes, you can. If you block someone, they won't be able to follow you or send you any messages. If your Tweets are public, they'll still be able to view them, but they won't show up on your followers list, and you won't be on their following list.

it depends on the site but most sites do have block lists or the option to send things to friends im not sure about twitter but i no that RS PSN and FB do

Yes, you can block them. You just go to their profile and block. Or don't follow them and set your settings to be visible to followers only.
