Okayyy So I downloaded some Movies off the internet and they play a little bit then Stop.?

I converted them in to mp4 files and I usually play them using quicktime The one works plays the whole way through but then the one plays a half an hour in then just stops like it over exits out. I was like whaaat so i tried to play them in VLC but that doesn't work either it says in the time spot its all there but it just stops some 20 minutes in some 2 minutes. The i converted one again from a mp4 to a .mov and when it was done only the part that played was there. Are they just broken files or is there a way to fix them??? I am not a computer skill person. Please dont get too technical with mee.
Im pretty sure they were originally .avi but i wanted them in mp4 so i could put them in my Itunes.

They are broken or corrupted. Get another copy of the videos.

The file is corrupt. You'll have to get a new one.
