What hobby would be good for my character?
I am writing a novel and I am trying to describe my characters. I have a entire description for my one character and I would like to know what hobbies she may like. Also, if you have a different, more unique nickname I would like to hear! Here is her description:
Name: Britain Aisley
Nickname: Brit
Age: 17
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 130.2 lbs
Build: Lean
Hairstyle: Long, straight with bangs
Hair color: Brown with red highlights
Eye color: Green with flecks of gold
Facial features: Angled jaw, full lips, big eyes
Personality: brave, skeptical, adventurous, daring, thoughtful, lovable

If it helps, she lives in a futuristic setting. Thanks much!!! Smile

I don't know why, but the first thing I thought about was Cards. She could be really into poker/other card games or magic tricks with cards...

What would be interesting is a hobby completely different than one would expect.

If one expects that this character might have rock climbing as a hobby - then have her knit baby hats. Or do watercolor painting.

Okay, let's start with your character description. Most of it doesn't tell me what she's like. Her name, height, weight, hair and eyes don't matter. They would if they were somehow an issue for her, but basically, she's a 17-year-old girl. The only informative things are her gender, age and personality.

For personality, you describe her as brave, daring, adventurous - these all fit together. She's also thoughtful, but do you mean that she's caring and considerate, or that she thinks about things, is introspective or intellectual? You also say she's skeptical, but of what? And she's lovable. Does that mean she's cute and popular, or is she an affectionate, loving person, or both?

What I really want to know are what is important to her. Not her hobbies, but what does she care about? What is she interested in? What are her values? What makes her love life? And what are her problems and issues, her fears, her insecurities, her doubts?

But you want hobbies. Is she a physically active girl? Is she more likely to go skateboarding or skiing or dancing? Or would that interfere with her manicure and wearing her favorite high heels?

Would she like role-playing games, either online or meeting with a group to play? That could feed her taste for adventure.

Is she a reader? If so, what kinds of books does she like?

Is she very sociable? Maybe she just likes hanging out with friends. Or she might spend time online on Facebook or texting.

Maybe exploring the outdoors is her hobby. Maybe she loves spending time in the woods, hiking along paths or going off the paths, or climbing rocks.Or poking around her city.

Maybe her hobby is learning about magic. She doesn't believe in it, of course, but she likes learning about witches, reads spell books, sometimes tries them out. Maybe she gathers herbs or tries experiments with crystals and reading the future.

Or she might be creative and like to do some kind of futuristic art, or maybe a traditional craft like quilting or embroidery.
