Why isnt internet working on my laptop?

I have a desktop and a laptop, and I use an ethernet cable for my internet. It worked on my laptop before, but then i connected it to my desktop and used internet on it from there.

Now when I try connecting it to my laptop, it just says "unidentified network, no internet access" but on my desktop is still able to use the same ethernet cable and have working internet. My laptops internet works wiht wireless at Uni, but I dont have wireless at home.

Tried diagnosing and it said "ethernet Ip configuration is invalid" or something like that.
help anyone?

According to the displayed messge you can try this:
1. Go to network and sharimg centre then right click on ethernet or lan.
2. Click on properties.
3. From the list double click on ipv4 settings.
4. If you have static ip address connection then In the dialog box opened, enter the ip address and dns address and every thing which is provided to you by your service provider.
5. If you have don't have static ip address then choose the option 'Choose automatically'.
6. Save the settings and you laptop is ready for accessing Internet.
