Help choosing an internet provider?
I'm about to move out on my own for my last two years of college. I plan to rent an apartment and one thing I am concerned about is choosing an internet provider. I'm an avid gamer and video watcher, so one of my main concerns is consistency as well as speed. Which provider could provide the most reliable connection while giving rather constant speed for online gaming such as WoW and matches of Call of Duty? Also, I want to be able to download large files without having to wait overnight. I found a 25mbps plan for a decent price through xfinity, should that be enough? I also saw a plan from them for 105mbps which seems like overkill.

Also, one thing im curious about is a T1 wire. While expensive, I'm curious of its actual capabilities. 1.5mbps dedicated to one spot, is this correct? What can actually be done on this speed of the connection? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Budget would have to be less than $100 per month since im not interested in paying for television so long as i have fast and reliable internet.

The best way to find out is to ask your apartment management about the provider for that area. When selecting the services from that provider, bundle the services for the best deal. Note: watch out for added fees, surcharges, iand unnecessary equipment leases. Also note that many cable companies and internet service providers check your credit report for reference in making the decision to accept you or deny you.

Help choosing an Internet provider, you don't say who you have to choose from. You can only pick from the ones available in your area. It's not like you get to pick lets say ComCast if they aren't available in your area tough luck.Very few area offer super fast speeds. If xfinity is available in your area it's not likely you are going to have a better choice.Plus if you are a real gamer you should know that upload speed is very important. So what if you get 100 mbps down if you are only getting 1.5 up.Comcast 25 mbps plan has 5 up.But the 105 mpbs down has 20 up and that's smokin. You could also look at the 50/10 plan which would be a great pick for a guy who games alot. One final thought. You stated that you download large files.Well remember that ComCast does have a data Cap which I found to be more than enough, but depending on how much you download it may not be enough so you might want to look and see if anyone else in your area has a plan that does not have a limit.
