Can someone help me understand tumblr?

So everyone I know tells me i should use tumblr. I started using it and made an account and everything, but I don't really understand the point of it or how to use it. So if someone could help me understand it, or find the fun part of it....

It is like Facebook and twitter combined, you can add pictures or "statuses" whatever is on your mind. I suggest following your friends, then searching things that you like (shows, music, hobbies, etc.) And follow people with similiar interests or blogs dedicated to specific shows or people. I describe it as nerdy Facebook. When you find multiple blogs you enjoy you can really get into it.

It's a really great social media site where you can add text, pictures, quotes, audio files, video, etc. and reblog others onto your own blog. Your own blog can be whatever you like - its like a part of you that you can change whenever you want. To start off, try following some text post blogs (like sighphone, snorlaxatives, jesuschristvevo, oomshi) and some fandom blogs if you are in to that. Just have fun and it's make more sense once you get into it!
