Selling macarons online?

I have a dream to open my own bakery house in the future, so now I am thinking of starting it with a small online business.

I am really good at baking macarons and packaging them, but I have no idea how to run an online business. So I need some tips on how to run an online macaron business..

The questions that are running in my head now are:

1) How to advertise my products? Through a website? Or through a blog? Or through websites like eBay or etsy?

2) How do I send my products to my customers?

Secondly you might be focusing on local customers so home service would be ideal for sending products.

To start an online business, of course you will need a legit website where people can browse through different type of Macaron you have and pay for it.

To create a website, you will need to buy a domain, get a webhost, design your website, have payment gateway set up and etc. This article explains how to create a general website step by step http://www.mktdojo.com/how-to-create-a-website - Although it doesn't teach how to create an ecommerce website but will get you started.

So back to your questions:
1) You can advertise your product by using Paid Advertisements on Google or Facebook. I would suggest Facebook for your business since Facebook can provide more human interaction.

You can also write blogs about macaron or something related such as how to make, different type of macaron for different occasions and etc. Blogs with keywords will help you appear in the Search Engine if anyone searches for it. Well, it might take more than that to appear on search engines.

I would suggest you also create a Facebook page where you can interact with your clients and etc.

I am not so sure about ebay and etsy for food. I don't think anyone would buy food via ebay or etsy.

2) To send your product, you can either deliver it personally if it is local; however, if it is from another state or somewhere far, i guess you can deliver it via USPS or FeDex but make sure you label it fragile. To start off your business, I would suggest doing it local first since you might not have enough money to ship it everywhere and it might ruin the macaron.
