You need to improve your blog in many ways to achieve your traffic goal. You need top work on onpage as well as offpage optimization.
Onpage mean you need to focus on your website content and layout and some other thins.
Offpage mean you need to work on backlinks , more links you have more exposure your website will gain.
When you work on both these your website will be ranked higher in serach engines and you will get traffic.

For getting traffic you would be wanting to submit your blog to search engine and social sites

also use twitter or facebook as well as get interactive like comment on other blogs (of the same niche)

I would also suggest posting weekly and having great content (which is hard)
