When you advertise on adsense what data does google give you to help determine what websites are more suitable?
Eg: Do you get any stats such as level of traffic, who visits the site (demographics, locality, interest) etc. Plenty of fish are a premium adsense advertiser attractor. Level of traffic alone does not justify expense though unless you have a mass market product. How do advertisers evaluate this against other high traffic sites ? Facebook provides advertisers with a lot of data to enable segmentation in all sorts of ways. Does adsense do the same ? If so how ?

You don't advertise on Google Adsense - you advertise on Google Adwords. The process of someone placing Google Adwords on their website is Google Adsense.

You have no control over what websites where someone will place the Google Adsense script that could include your Google Adwords ad although it usually is related to the niche of your ad.

Google attempts to do keyword matching to Adsense publisher sites on the Adwords network, Google provides a tool to help identify such sites. You can also manually select sites or individual pages for ad placements.

Ultimately to make campaigns profitable you have to us tracking software to determine which sites are providing the best conversions, along with optimizing ad and landing page content by trial and error you wold probably be eliminating the less productive publisher site selections.

Established, high volume campaigns with an established conversion record can switch to Google's CPA method in which Google takes care of selecting sites and optimizing your campaign for sales conversion.
