I have been busted on a forum... help?
Well I think I have.
I'm on this video game/ movie discussion forum. I've been there for over 2 years. But lately, I started getting trolled by some people. So, on the same laptop, I created another email and then created another forum account under a different name and different info. This was to get back at them without getting into trouble with mods and admins. I started posting using that new account and whatever, and then this new account got a message from one of the admins. He said:
" We don't appreciate duplicate accounts, and they could lead both accounts to being deleted."
That was all he said. Could he have discovered that I created 2accounts? Can admins really do that?
@SteveO:
Yeah I'm pretty much busted huh..
But my question is, can the admin see that, for example, Person A has another account, and that account is Person B? Can he pinpoint it that directly?
Also, at this point, what do you advise me to do? Should I delete both accounts and leave?

Yeah, admins and moderators can ban duplicate accounts. The forum software is able to determine the IP address from which the account was registered, and can log the IP address per visit. It's really easy to determine that kind of stuff. Plus, anyone could figure out that someone from the same IP address on two different accounts defending each other has duplicate accounts.

EDIT: One could infer that two accounts from the same IP might be the same person, but there is no truly definitive way of doing so unless both accounts happened to have too much similarity in registration information (birthday, email provider, etc.). There is an entire control panel for most forums that allows administrators to see extremely detailed information and logs about every user. I wouldn't delete both accounts, just the duplicate and don't respond to trolls. The more you ignore the trolls, the quicker they go away or get banned.
