Everybody wants to add someone on Facebook or follow on Twitter. How often do you hear someone say "don't forget to add me as a contact!"

Do you know anybody in real life who also is on Y!A?
You're still being social with other people you don't know though.

Yes, it's not a social network and was never intended to be used as one. It doesn't make sense when someone asks a question about geography and some random user answers with "Hey donna, add me as a contact!"

I know a few people on Y!A, but we don't chat or acknowledge each other for two reasons.
#1 this is not a social network
#2 we tend to disapprove of one-another's answers.
