Is yahoo trying to drive clients away with their over advertising?
If getting bombarded with advertising on my home page isn`t enough, now when I open an email my window is smaller so yahoo can take up 20% of my screen with advertising down the right hand side.
That raises a question: Are my email messages not my private space? Does Yahoo have the right to invade my private emails with their advertising? What do I get out of the advertising? I don`t want it and I don`t like it and please stop looking for every nook and cranny to pester me with ads for stuff I don`t want or need. And don’t bother doing data mining to find out what you think I might want. I am not much of a shopper so please leave me alone. Thank you.

"2. DESCRIPTION OF YAHOO! SERVICES

Yahoo! provides users with access to a rich collection of resources, including without limitation various communications tools, forums, shopping services, search services, personalized content and branded programming through its network of properties which may be accessed through any various medium or device now known or hereafter developed (the "Yahoo! Services"). You also understand and agree that the Yahoo! Services may include advertisements and that these advertisements are necessary for Yahoo! to provide the Yahoo! Services."

I don't like the new email interface much either. Of course they have the right but over the years they have pushed the limits to the detriment of the user and lost many people. Your choice is to stay or use other email services.

There is big money in those ads but I think sometimes they forget they need the eyeballs to see the ads and their users are not entirely captive.

Inorder to get your privact you can become premium member,
yes yahoo seems to be low in budget so making a lot of ads.
Yes your emails are private with their ads for free users
yes they have the rignt to do it check terms and conditions

Inorder to get out of it, you need to become a pro user, or you can user some extensions to block the ads

If you don't like it then don't use Yahoo! or any of its services at all, that simple.

That's how they make money for the services they offer.
