Pronunciation of the word "daemon" - are there 2 ways to say it?
The Old English term "daemon" (or really, dæmon) is said the same way as "demon" is with the "ee" sound... But seemingly there is another way to say it, according to some of my fellow Computer Science friends. When you send an email and it fails to send, you get a notice from the "mail/mailer daemon" - I've heard "mailer daemon" said with more of an "eh" sound like in the word "said" ...
Is it different in these 2 different contexts? Ads |
