Because, unfortunately ... written English skills are just not enforced (or even expected) the way they used to be.

Texting and social media have made the omission of capitalization, punctuation, correct spelling, and proper form seem normal to many people, especially younger folks. A whole generation has now grown up with the idea that it's perfectly OK to communicate using abbreviations and lack of decent grammar.

Those of us who are older were taught that it is disrespectful to make the reader work to understand the meaning of the written message. Today's teens and young adults value fast and more over quality and correctness.

Because it isn't important and people don't care.

I wish I knew, the most often response is "It's just the internet"

It seems as if that is their pathetic excuse of either their ignorance or lack of interest and respect for us.

I know if I was one of their teachers and I had to read some of the things they would write here, they would be told to rewrite it or get a "Fail"
H-man

Tell me about it. Over the last ten years, I find myself teaching more and more English in my foreign language classes. The standards have apparently dropped to the basement in many high schools.

The students from better schools write and speak like educated people, but too many think it's okay to say things like: "Me and him went to the party." Give I a break!!!
