How do you advertise a mobile DJ business?
I've been a DJ for a while now but I may get one gig every two weeks, I have been using craigslist, yellow pages, social media, and business cards.

I am thinking about placing an ad in the newspaper. I want to know if there are more effective ways to use paid advertising.

I have a website and a facebook page:
djianparty.com
facebook.com/coldfusiondj

I wouldn't post in the newspaper, the main people who read them are older people (might use you for weddings though).

If I were you, try to be interactive in you advertising approach. Like, say "10% discount throughout summer!" or try looking through people's information on Facebook in the area to see if they're having any events coming up. If they are, try to get a hold of them. There's tons of ways! Smile

Way cool cover image on your Facebook page! It sounds like you're doing some great things to promote your business. Another thing that will really help grow your business is to have a mobile presence. A quick fact for you: In the next three years, more people will access the Internet from their mobile phones than from their desktop computers. That means businesses have to make sure they are providing their customers (and potential customers) with a great mobile experience.

If you don't already have a mobile-friendly website, that's the place to start with your mobile presence. You can build one for free at http://www.howtogomo.com/en/d/get-starte...your-site. Then think about experimenting with mobile advertising instead of newspaper ads. (We recommend Vocalize Mobile.)

You can prewrite updates and short messages for Twitter.com and then publish them regurlarly via services like socialoomph.com - this way you are not glued to your computer answering tweets yourself.

The key with marketing in social media is to automate most of it or it will be a time consuming killer no matter if you look into Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr or any other service out there.

However you should utilize them and automate publishing messages, for example using a blog and then let this messages from the blog get posted into Facebook and Twitter or Tumblr.

For that hootsuite.com is ideal as it can help you to manage several services at the same time (socialoomph.com as well)
