What are some great marketing strategies for a homeless shelter?

I need some good marketing strategies to help out a homeless shelter. They already have a website, facebook, newsletter and e-newsletter. They need help on the awareness point. Please, any ideas? All are welcome. Thank you.

Try a community newspaper. I believe you can get it done less expensive than your newsletter, and you have a lot more room to put articles, pictures, puzzles, and sell ads to other businesses (which can pay for and even bring a profit to the newspaper). It is a trusted format. It allows you to place them practically anywhere like libraries, restaurants, Dr. offices, and so forth.

I've done this for a church and it went very well. I targeted the community. We placed about 5000 in business for people to take and the other 5000 we placed on people's door steps. It is a great way to create awareness, interest, and name recognition with very little out of pocket expense--especially since business would buy ad space from you and feel they are helping people while they are doing it.
