CTS on my check? Scam?

I sold my chair on kijiji for 120$ and this guy was emailing me telling me he would send me the cash and when i receive it, I am to let him know and he will send a shipping company to pick the chair up...So fair deal i thought even though id rather just meet him. SOOO, i received a check in the mail today (expecting cash) and on it , it says ' Banque Laurentienne $ 4,490&15 CTS.' . And in the top right corner there is the date and it says below it '**4,490.15$'.......???? It looks like a very legit check with all the signatures and everything but im confused...to me this looks like 5000$ when obviously it isnt but i dont know what to do. I havnt told him i got it yet cause i have no clue whats going on and if this is a scam or something,,,

the check is fake.
