What are some effective ways to market and promote my web series?

I'm new to this web series thing so i would like to know some strategies i can use. I would like to know how do i get an audience instead of the use of spam. A steady fan base, how to monetize it. I'm well aware of the hard work that will be required going into this project. I also would like to know what are some useful tips, advice or any info when it comes to the pre and post production phases. Any websites would be great too. Thanks.
