create tutoring business?

i would like to start my own tutoring business, even if it is only a few students. there is a local tutoring agency, but they have certain hours that I can't work. I figure I could make more than they pay me.

So how to I compete with them, they are already established? And start my own? I am a cert. teacher.

I don't know what legal requirements might be involved, you could place a free advert on craigslist.org to test the water, I assume you would teach at your home or virtually, you can probably find a free webinar service that allows you to share computer screen with small audiences or individual students.

Seems like you could also incorporate the free khanacademy.com tutorials to augment your coaching somewhat like some experimental schools are employing. This would spare you some of the rout lectures and allow more interactive time.
