Internet speed automatically gets super slow??! Help!?
I built my own gaming PC on ibuypower.com and it just came to my house early this week and we just hooked it up and everything yesterday and ever since then my internet has been amazingly slow. It takes the longest time to download Steam games and I let steam download a game overnight and it moved like the slightest bit and wasn't even near to being done. What is going on with my internet?? It was never like this on my old computer but now it's just super slow and I've tried resetting the router and that didn't work at all. Please I need a fix to this problem!!!
Ping: 28ms.
Download Speed: 3.09 mpbs
Upload Speed: 2.85 mpbs

First off, we can't guess what you have for internet service. Secondly, we can't guess what you have for a home network. Post these details if you want something more than a guess. Go to the website below and run a speed test, post the results along with whether you are on a wired or wireless home network and how many people use it..

Edit: Apparently, you have no intention of providing the rest of the needed details. I CAN tell you your internet service sucks. If there are others using the network, it only makes the problem worse.

Process of trial and error.

Unhook you new pc, and hook-up your old pc.
Try the same download and see if speeds are any difference.

If it is faster on your old pc, then we know it is issue with the new one.
Could be a number of things such as: Speed of your NIC(Network Card)
Wireless or wired connection?
Hard drive disc write speed

Also, try downloading something from a different website, to ensure it's not steam itself that is performing slow.

Last but not least, do a speed test from each pc(new and old)

Do you know your internet speed when you had your old computer. If you don't know you internet speed, go to http://www.speedtest.net/ and it will do it for free. The main reason why Internet is slow is the bandwidth and is represented by megabits per second (mbps). The higher the mbps, the faster the speed of the internet. Also, even if you do have high mbps, the signal from your computer to your router can be a factor that may slow down your internet.

So you can try increasing your bandwidth and positioning your computer closer to your router. If none of this works, it may be your computer is receiving a lot of data (which takes up bandwidth) for some reason maybe you're downloading a lot of things or it's automatically downloading stuff, or there's a problem with your internet provider.

I would run a speed test (can find many online) and first see what download speed you are getting as that is most important. Second contact your internet provider and let them know. Or can you hook up another computer and see if it is slow as well.
