I need more traffic to my website...HELP?
I have started my website. http://www.shop-in-one.co.uk and so far ive had 1700 visitors in 2 weeks. Im not sure whether this amount of traffic is decent or not and whether I should be approaching my way of advertising the way i do.

ive been using facebook, youtube comments, yahoo answers and word of mouth. I need some opinions and suggestions as to how i can get it out there and attract more visitors.

all reasonable answers are appreciated..thanks

Jake

depend on your website on-page & off-page activities

These are the best steps for ranking & Traffic.

1. Need quality based Link Building
2. Quality & High PR Social Bookmarking (10/per day)
3. Classified Ads (2/per week)
4. High PR Directory submission (20/per day)
5. Forum Posting
6. Create Blog Wheel Circle

That's quite a lot of views for your launching two weeks because things should pick up.
HOWEVER I visited and was so confused i just left and I have no idea what the point of the website is so I'm sure i can't be the only view that's looked and left. Sorry to sound so rude and abrupt but I thought maybe you could improve the layout maybe to make it more aesthetically pleasing

As you have listed that you are using Facebook. Do you have a Business page on Facebook? If not then create a business page and groups on it and also on other social networking websites such as Google+, Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn. Share your quality posts or updates along with your website's URL. You can also start discussion in group section. Invite your friends to join or like your page. Engage with them.

I found out that your website do not have a blog. Create a blog also and share some high quality articles related to your websites. This will surely drive good amount of visitors.

Along with this you also have to optimize your website through SEO for improving your visibility in search engine results. Do some of the off-page SEO techniques such as forums posting, article submission, blog commenting, guest posting, classified ads and profile linking.
Here are some tips for doing it properly-
1. Do forums posting related to your niche and on high PR website mainly of (2 - 6 PR)
2. Posting high quality articles on article submission websites such as ezine.
3. Post details about your website along with your URL on classified ads websites. This will drive good amount of visitors to your website.
4. Profile Linking is important. It gives good exposure to your website by submitting your website details on profile linking websites.
5. Post quality articles on guest posting sites. This is also a good way of driving good amount of traffic.

All these off-page SEO techniques must be strategically.

If you have money then your can do PPC (Pay Per Click). It gives instant traffic to your website.

There are a lot more things you can do here.

If you can't afford to pay for your own PR or marketing firm there are a few venues you can do yourself.

Use social media. Facebook and Twitter make great platforms for building your brand.

Participate in forums. Set up a proper signature. Don't violate forum rules!

Advertise on free classified ad services.

I'm going to include a few helpful links to get you started. I hope they help.

Spend more time on social media.
Alternatively get involved in search engine optimisation.
This allows your website to get to the top of search engines for certain words.

Look into doing this yourself or getting a company. But this works - it converts traffic to sales.

No offense, but your layout is horrible. It looks like something created in 1998 with basic html and a bunch of iframe content from Amazon. You seriously need to update the look and navigation, or it won't matter how many visitors you get, as your bounce rate will be very high and conversion rate very low.

Also, the number of visitors doesn't matter if they aren't TARGETED visitors. You need to target people looking for products and shopping websites online. A bunch of random hits won't help you.

PPC advertising works well, but it can also get expensive if you don't know how to write good ad copy. Try testing your ads with small buys first and then scale up what works.

Good luck on your site!
