What is the best site to register a domain?
Hi All

I want to register my domain. What is the best site to register?

What are the other features to check out before registering a domain.

I heard that GODADDY.COM is not recommended to get registered.

I request you all to please suggest on features before registering a domain.

What is the best site to register a domain.

I would also want to know, if any tool or site to suggest beautiful domain names

It doesn't matter which service provider you book it with because the domain comes from one apex registry.

Beutiful name suggestions would come from what is the purpose of the website.

http://www.Namecheap.com is a good domain registrar.

http://www.DomaindaVinci.com is a domain generator site that you could try for domain name ideas.

Nearly every web-hosting site nowadays can be used to register your domain. Sometimes this is the easier path for people who don't know how to set up websites because it becomes a package deal (which allows the hosting site to deal with all the headache of reminding you when to renew your domain name). The other alternative is to just register with a domain name registry site. I'll give the Pros and Cons to each of these.

Register Name with Website Hosting Company:
PROS
-- Less hassle for the non-tech individuals
-- Usually included within the package of creating your website

CONS
-- Can be difficult to transfer domain name to new host (if you don't like the current host)
-- You have to read the "fine print" to see if host keeps rights of domain name

Register Name with Domain Registry:
PROS
-- Usually will give you variations of domain names if the one you want is unavailable
-- Allows you to purchase other domain name packages (though unnecessary most of the time)
-- Keeps all of your domain names in one location, if you are a domain name hoarder

CONS
-- They often try to sucker you into buying more domain names than you need (GoDaddy is notorious for this)
-- Sometimes the domain registry sites can be spammy (with advertising)

Personally, if you are just buying one or two domain names, I would go with a website hosting company that you feel you would enjoy. Here's a couple of hosting sites:
http://www.ixwebhosting.com/
http://www.bluehost.com/
http://www.hostgator.com/

If you are planning on purchasing a lot of domain names and want to have full control of the domain registry, I would go with one of the following:
http://www.namecheap.com/
http://godaddy.com/
https://www.arin.net/

As for GoDaddy, it is really not that bad of a site for purchasing domain names. Because they are a little more popular, they can sometimes be a slight bit more expensive...like a dollar or two. The biggest issue that I have with them is that they try to sell you an insane amount of stuff that you DON'T need. But you can just click through all that to purchase your domain name. I've used GoDaddy for probably about 6 years and have had no issues with them. Again, just remember that you do not need to purchase anything else except the domain name that you want. They will try to make it sound like you do (but most domain registry sites do nowadays, because that's how they make their money).

As for beautiful domain names, you can use your own to search in GoDaddy or any of the other registries. They will usually provide alternates. If you are looking for a domain name generator, you can look at these sites:
http://www.nameboy.com/
http://www.dotomator.com/

Wow...that's a suuuuuuuper-looooooong reply! But I hope it helps.

depends on what type of site you are making.
If you are trying to make a porn site or website with illegal content, then godaddy and other mentioned web hosters are not good.

If you are making up a very small website for some buiseness and other small purpose like portfolio, than go for godaddy and hostgators.com

If you are going to host movies and songs for free downloads, than go hostingraja.in and hosting24.com and hostgators

godaddy has a worst problem, that if any reports your site for any valid reason, they shut down the site with two or more warnings only. Plus thier are cheaper hosters than godaddy.

websites like ebay and other online seelers prefer godaddy as these sites dont get a lot complains

there yahoo cheap hosting available too, just in case if you did not get any good hosting

I recommend Godaddy.com use code WOWUKR to get 35% for for first purchase, then you can find other codes for 15% 20% or 30% off for purchases when you renew your domain and or hosting.

Godaddy gives nice promo discounts and people just don't know about it. If you use promotions codes Godaddy is a better deal.

In my opinion the best place is http://www.dynadot.com/

They are good enough for Wikileaks, and they have a really clear and simple layout to control your domains from.

Don't use tools to find domain names, use common sense.

Go to Cheapest Domain Hosting Organization to find affordable domain names and other relevant services. You can trust the listing as per Professional Webmasters Recommendation / Advice.

You would need to diverse your investment. Buy a domain name from one web hosting company and host it elsewhere. Spread them out. Soon you would also realize it is insufficient to buy only 1 domain name. Those serious in business invest in several domain names relevant to the same industry, and draws the traffic ultimately to one domain name (for closing sale). That's why the listing of web hosting comes handy as per Professional Webmasters Recommendation / Advice.
