Just do a search for Ad Network, or Adsense Alternatives to get lists of such businesses that use an automated system to insert ads, some have high site quality and traffic requirements, some not so much.

Most small operators use Google Adsense which most any site with decent content can qualify, some sites end up needing 10,000 visitors to reach the $100 min payout, some alternatives pay sooner.

High traffic sites can rent banner space through a broker like buySellAds.com, they take a 10% commission while Google gets about 1/2 of their ad network fees.
