Redirect April Fools Prank?
Hi!
I'm trying to redirect facebook.com to my own domain jakku.co.uk/facebook on someone's computer for an April Fool's prank! How can I do this? I've tried using the hosts file but it isn't working. Thanks! Ads |

If you have access to their computer, you could edit their "hosts" file, and re-direct a URL to a different IP. You say it does not work, that may be because the DNS lookup is still cached in that computer. If they power up, it should be cleared. However, you may have to find a way to flush the DNS cache after making the hosts file changes (and re-boot). Changing hosts file may require a reboot anyway (older versions of Windows...)

Open hosts file in Windows’ Notepad
Find out IP address of http://www.facebook.com using this article Start editing at the end of the HOSTS file : Press Enter to start a new line. Type the ip, press TAB key once followed by jakku.co.uk/facebook. Save the hosts file. |
