Do GoPro still images store location information?
I'm going to purchase a GoPro Hero in the near future. I want to take it with me to Hawai'i. I want to use it mostly as a digital camera to capture still images, but I will also be shooting video. I'd like to use the GoPro app to upload these to Instagram. Does the GoPro show location information on Instagram like my iPhone? I may not have time to upload while on vacation and I don't want my home location to be displayed on Instagram if I do it when I get back.

GoPro cameras are wonderful toys, and so much fun for those action shots and videos.

However, they are NOT a camera to use for the sake of real photography, they simply aren't meant for that. Even a so-so P&S camera has way more features and options (other than the action-appropriate ones), so you can't really compare a GoPro with a standard camera - they are two totally different tools.

Unless you intend to use it mostly for wild, fascinating action madness, I would strongly suggest getting a normal camera - your results will look so much better!

Buy it very soon, then start learning about your new camera and about photography - a bit of knowledge makes a huge difference to your images.

No, GoPro does not have GPS, so it does not store the location of the photos. You can, however, add the location with software on your computer. My Paintshop Pro allows me to add location information into the images, so I assume, other computer software will also do the same.
