Upgrade. Mint 16 just came out and is wonderful. You will greatly appreciate the improvements to CInnamon. And it uses Ff 25

Linux Mint 10 has been obsolete since April 2012. I agree with the other poster. They will not be updating their repos.

BUT........

If you want to keep Mint 10, you can put Firefox 25.0.1 on it yourself (without compiling).

Download the latest Firefox.

Navigate to ~/.mozilla/firefox
(the ~/ means /home/(you) )
This is where your profile is saved. Copy the folder that has about 8 random characters and your name (or default) to another location (this is your backup). The file will look like 21jhg567default (or 21jhg567you). It is ALWAYS a good idea to backup data that is important.

Uninstall the Firefox you now have (it will not remove your profile).

Uncompress the bz2 file you just downloaded. Create a folder called .firefox in your home directory. The . in front of firefox just means it is hidden. No real reason for it other than to keep your file manager from looking so cluttered.

Move the contents of the uncompressed bz2 file into .firefox. If you navigate to ~/.firefox and open a terminal, you can type sh run-mozilla.sh This will open Firefox. No need to install.

When Firefox opens it will create a new profile. It will also be in ~/.mozilla/firefox.

Now just copy your old profile to the new profile it created.

You can not create a shortcut on your desktop. I use KDE and do not know how to do it in Cinnamon, Gnome, LXDE, ect......

This sounds complicated but it isn't. To update Firefox, just download, uncompress and copy to ~/.firefox.
