It is social connection. You meet different people of different occupation on it & build relationship with them.

LinkedIn account is for creating an online professional profile of oneself. If you fill your LinkedIn profile accurately and completely, you might get better job offers than the present one within in the same niche. You can connect with so many like minded people and thus build a strong network.
It's all about networking but on a serious note. I hope my answer helped. |

It's about having recruitment junkies (sorry agencies) trying to connect to you all the time!

It's a professional networking site that you can basically use as an online resume. You can ask your contacts to write recommendations for you that will show up on your online profile for your network and recruiters to see. LinkedIn is a popular site for job recruiters to scout out new talent for their companies, and also for job seekers who are looking for new opportunities. It's different than Facebook because it's used mostly for professional networking, and not just social networking and general status / Twitter-like updates.
