Is this animal abuse?
I was at Pet Smart today and I went to go look at the small animals while my Dad was picking out cat food for our cat. I noticed there were about 5 gerbils in the gerbil take and this one gerbil started instigating attacks on the gerbils. So, I went up to the some workers and told them they were fighting.

One of the guys I was talking said "God d****t" and made his back to the gerbil tank. The other guy I was talking to said "It's all his fault! I swear!" He said it jokingly, but I think he meant it because the other could have put the gerbils together.

So they went back and took out the gerbil that was attacking the others. He then puts the gerbil into another gerbil tank where that gerbil starts attacking the gerbils in that tank! I started too take a video of the gerbil because I was completely outraged that they already separated the attacking gerbil but then relocated it into another gerbil tank when it clearly needed to be solitary!

Just then when I was taking the video the worker went back because he was separating more gerbils out of the tank or something. I don't know much about gerbils, but I have read some of them are social and some are not.

Is this animal abuse because of the ill equipped workers and the lack of knowledge they have? Should I report this and show the video proof of the gerbil attacking the others?

I would report it, just so I knew that I did something for those animals.
Petsmart is a horrible place. None of their employees know anything about animals, nor do they even seem to care. I've visited Petsmart locations throughout my province, and every single store has been the same.

They do not keep their reptiles in proper environments (humidity levels and temperature).
They do not separate aggressive animals from the group, nor do they isolate sick animals from the healthy ones.

Most animals purchased there are already very ill before they find a home, and not many of them live anywhere close to the animals actual life expectancy (even if the owner does everything right, basically these animals don't even have a chance).

I've reported several Petsmart locations, and a few reptile shops as well.

Report the employees (you'll need to provide date/time of visit as well as a description of the employees) to their Supervisor/Manager. (doubt anyone in the store gives a crap about animals, but doesn't hurt to try).
Check for local animal rights groups and contact them.
Contact your local SPCA branch (if you have one).
Search google for websites where people can list complaints against stores (yes, even a forum type site... with regular people... just to get the word out there, perhaps someone might be able to help).
Start a facebook group/page about it, spread the word.
Contact the media if you wish (newspaper, cable news, youtubers etc. again to get the word out there).

Yes

But pet stores like Petco and Petsmart and the like get their pets form mills and keep them in deplorable conditions and when they are sick they do NOT get them vet care. They put them in a back room toi die or place them alive in a freezer
