He says he has a girlfriend, but is he lying?

Ive been talking to this guy and we were talking about valentines day and he had said this was the first year he wasnt going to be alone. I was cool with it and tried to back off when i realized he had a girlfriend. Though, he keeps flirting with me and rarely ever mentions his girlfriend (only when i ask about her or he says we both like something) but even on his social media, there is no trace of his supposed girl? Im not sure at this point if he was lying to me or if he actually has a girlfriend and is just flirting with me because he is bored or something. Please help me understand!!!

Well there's many options that what he's doing.

1) He's a player
2) The girlfriend doesn't have a Facebook
3) He lied about having a girlfriend

Why not casually bring it in a conversation like asking about why she doesn't have a Facebook and see what he says.

It's very possible he DOES have a girlfriend.
Possible he's a cheater or player.
Possible he just went through a breakup, and isn't sure how to act. Might be just saying he has one as an act of habit, or trying to psychologically bring her back.
He lied. Could be testing you, thinking "hey, if she thinks I have a girlfriend, she'll back off... but not too far if she really likes me!" Stupid move on his part though.
Doesn't have her as a friend on Facebook, have a relationship status, or she doesn't have facebook. Quite common. My girlfriend has facebook, but our relationship statuses are both "single".
Could be he's not really interested and just wants in your pants, it is not interested at all.
