I know this is dumb...but how do I use Twitter?

I need to send a msg to someone... Which button/link do I click?

depends on what program you using if you are in twitter.com than take mouse over the right of post and you will see a arrow click on that and you will have @name all your followers will see this message.
other way is to click on direct message and choose who you want send message to and only that person will see the message.

edit:
you can just go to their profile and on the side it says message [username]. click message.

but if you want to tweet them (the message can be viewed publicly), once you're at the home page, do this: (say their username is username.) type @username then the message, and it will be viewed on their profile.
