Design ecommerce website costs?
Hi all,

Im wondering on the average price for a ecommerce website.
I want it designed and all made safely with ALOT of items on there.

Im Not interested in the webhosting plans/prices. Just the price that a Designer would charge for making it.

Depending on what you want, price can vary from a few hundred dollars using a standard ecommerce system like Magento, or into the millions of dollars with much more customization. Best bet is to define exactly what it is you want and contact a few developers to get a quote. You can also put up a job on freelance boards like Odesk, Freelancer or Elance. Always be careful selecting a provider and do your due diligence. Maybe start with a small job to get a feel of the quality of work.

You can always go to guru.com or elance.com and create an employer profile. Then, post your project (web designer) with as much details as you can. Select "not specified" as the budget amount. Within 1-2 days, you will be flooded with bids from web designers who are interested in your project. The amounts of their bids will help you figure out what the average cost is. Just make sure to check their profiles and see where they are from - some outsourced professionals on the site may not have English as their main language, which may cause communication issues with you if you choose them because of their low price.

Price to set up a business eCommerce site would depend on its CMS and features. eCommerce site generally created from PHP or Drupal and cost would be very related to your plans.

Hiring a part time developer cost around $30-$100 a hour for developing and maintenance your site, beside you should prepare for hosting cost to make your site live and able to sell something online.
You can get affordable developers through freelancing portal such as elance.com

http://elance.com

Another option is to sign up into eCommerce platform which designed to help client create their eCommerce website easily. If you create your site through these eCommerce platform you don't need to worry about site developing, hosting, and maintenance. As all of it already handled by their system and own developers and support teams. eCommerce platform generally cost around $20-$200 a month depend on your pricing plans, and features.
