internet will not work!!!!?

I ran an ethernet cable all the way through my house from my desktop to the router and they are plugged in but my computer says "not connected, no connections are available my computer specs are:
Amd fx 6300
Msi radeon r7 260x
Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
Asus m5a78l-m lx plus
This was a custom built pc and it has never connected to the internet

Sounds like you need to install the ethernet drivers for your motherboard, assuming it has an onboard NIC

You didn't mention what troubleshooting steps you have already taken. Connect a different device to the ethernet cable to verify the cable works. Connect your PC to a different ethernet cable and see if it works. When you find out which of those doesn't work you will know if the problem is your PC or the cable.
