Is my internet speed good for gaming?
Test 1: Ping:11ms Download:54.11mbps Upload:3.07mbps
Test 2: Ping:11ms Download:54.17mbps Upload:3.09mbps
Test 3: Ping:11ms Download:54.05mbps Upload:3.07mbps

I do a lot of console gaming and i am actually considering going wired but do you think my internet speeds are good enough for gaming?

btw my ps3 (soon ps4) is right next to the router.

That is pretty good for gaming,

Low latency (ping time) and decent upload speeds are more important than super-fast download speeds for online gaming.

That being said,

If you are close to your router you should use a Ethernet connection. A good quality 14 foot Ethernet cable costs less than $6 at Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TH7...xcharge-20

The reason is, wireless connections suck for online gaming.

Although WiFi is convenient for mobility, wireless interference can cause it's connection speed and quality to vary wildly.

Wireless signals are affected by many factors including wall density, electrical interference, directional antenna range, etc. Your latency (ping) may be 30 ms and wireless interference could cause it to spike to 200 ms or more.

A Ethernet connection will eliminate variances in latency and speed and there is no overhead that WiFi systems need for security encryption and decryption of data.

Good Luck.

Gaming only requires around 5KB/s Up/Down - your download speed is 6912KB/s. Ping, or latency, is a factor affects connection quality (online gaming) most. Your ping - 11ms - is very good (lower is better).

"Is my internet speed good for gaming?" Yes.

That will suffice for gaming, You get a good gaming experience from 2mbps, so having 27 times that will be a very good gaming experience, Happy Gaming!
