Why do people especially couples constantly post stuff on Facebook and Instagram? Do they do it for attention?

I know this girl who I have always liked since we were kids and I feel it's been the same but she always retreats when things seem to move to the next level. She puts things on Facebook and Instagram that are obviously to get my attention. She's dating a jerk right now and she does nothing but put pics of them on there. My question is do people like her do that to make people think that they are happy? I feel that if a relationship was going well, pics would not have to be put up because there would be no time to even think of putting them up. Like maybe it's all a front that people do to cover their misery. What do you think?

You are right. Obviously she wants to put this persona on that she doing great. Who knows if it is or not. She could just do it for straight attention and people to tell her good things so she can gain some confidence. Her foundation of what a relationship is probably oh pictures of us and kissing nonstop... Not a real wholesome relationship. She's probably immature
