Hi. Start with computer classes and consider obtaining a certification in Microsoft Office programs like Word, Excel, Power Point, Access Databases, and Microsoft Outlook. Use these programs in your spare time to complete little mock assignments so that you can become familiar with them. Office 2013 is the latest release, so you should consider starting with that package.

Next, search for seminars/classes in Administrative Support, Travel Planning, etc. Also, depending on the company you plan to work for, becoming comfortable with the use of social media like Twitter, Facebook, and the like, can go a long way to make sure you remain on the cutting edge of being a great advocate for your future organization or boss.

Are you employed now? If so, ask your human resources department about development course they may have available for you to complete. This may ensure that you get a promotion upon successful completion.

Last, any degree looks good. The point is to get one. ;-)
