If I posted a pic of my grandchild on facebook and someone shared it without my permission, is it possible for me to delete the photo and have it disappear on the other person's account?

Yes, if you delete the photo and they shared it, then they should no longer have access to the photo. However, whenever you post anything to the internet, there's no guarantee that it will ever truly be gone. Someone could have saved the image or it is stored on Facebook still somewhere even after you delete it.
