I'm so confused, please help :(?

Today I got snapchat, how do I view my friends' pictures on there? I expected it to be like Facebook news feed, I know I sound stupid but I'm so confused haha All I get on my news feed is a background of ghosts, also I can't get on any of my friends profiles or see their posts? I have an iPod touch 4 if that changes anything, thank you xo

you need connection with the internet 1st
and to reload you wipe your finger down the screen , normally that should work
to add friends you need to wipe from right to left and in the right top corner you can add friends

You're supposed to click and keep holding. If you release, the picture will disappear
