Android tablets vs iPad?
Hi!

I currently have an Asus Transformer tablet and I love it. I always loved Android, had a blast with it on my last mobile phone and found it way more powerful than iOS.

But I'm encountering one big reality check right now : application-wise the android market has a very small selection of application designed for tablets.

I always hear good stuff about iPad's apps and always saw (when I had an iPhone) that almost any iPhone application had an iPad version.

I don't want "adaptations", I know some apps can get rendered for a tablet but facebook and twitter on my Android tablet are just a waste of space in comparison with Facebook's iPad app.

I've been running on Mac and iOS for years but two years ago I switched back to something else. So I have a very good understanding of iOS.

So now the question, in your opinion, should I switch to an IPad?

Thanks and have a nice day!

no
the apps for web pages are needed for many small screen devices to cut down on fluff, and make it easier to read. tablets don't need this.

youc an go directly to facebook on your tablet, and have a full-featured website, still being able to do everything.

You outlined the biggest problem with Android tablets and even my brother in law who is a die hard fandroid had to concede that the iPad was a much better buy.

If you can wait a while for Android to consolidate into 4.0, things might look a little better and you might get some better performance, but as of now with the Retina display and the sheer selection of tablet specific apps, the iPad is the way to go.

I just got the new iPad and the screen is nothing short of incredible. I redownloaded my Apps and all of the iPhone only ones were deleted because they looked awful scaled up. All but a couple were redownloaded as iPad apps--many with the Retina display update.
