Everyone has a different perspective about what FB is and how it helps/destroys humanity. It certainly has positive sides and negative but every individual decides for themselves. After all, you will not use it if you did not need it for a particular purpose. This is the reason we must not harass or influence other's opinion as it becomes brainwashing (and I bet you don't want annoying copies of you walking around).

As for its overall purpose, we could only observe and watch how/if it has a particular influence over the society and whether that influence matches the needs and expectations of such service of the majority of the humanity.
